In case anybody was wondering, Donald Trump just released his first official plan for his presidency on Sunday, 8/15, and HOLY SHIT is it scary
To sum up this racist fuckery he calls a plan for office:
•He intends to have the Mexican Government pay for a wall between the US and Mexico
•He has openly said that children should not be spared amnesty. He plans on shipping entire families back to Mexico
•He demands “mandatory incarceration and deportation” of any undocumented immigrants who are caught on US soil
•He plans on tripling immigration officers at the boarder
•He wants to make it much, much harder for Mexicans to gain American citizenship, even for those who were already living in the US
•He says that, “only the good ones” should be allowed to stay in the US or gain citizenship. (He has not defined the use of the word “good” by the way)
•I know I already said this but HE LITERALLY PLANS ON HAVING THE MEXICAN GOVERNMENT BUILD THE UNITED STAES A FREE WALL??? •He wants to change the 14th amendment to the constitution so that all children born to illegal immigrants will be classified as illegal as soon as they are born.
This is the same guy who, up until recently, didn’t even have a tab on his website for his plans for office.
This is the same guy who said on national TV that Megyn Kelly was “bleeding out of her wherever” while questioning him at the most recent debate.
This is the same guy that gave out a US senators personal phone number on national TV
This is the same guy who called a veteran, US senator, and national war hero a, “loser” because he, “doesn’t like people who got captured”.
And this is the same exact guy who announced his campaign for President of The United States Of America by calling all Mexicans drug users and rapists.
Donald Trump claims that he has a lot of respect for Mexico and their people, but he says this only so he can fall back on it when confronted about his prejudice.
He claims he has had thousands of migrant workers working for his company, and that he understands and sympathizes with them because of this. And yet he fails to recognize how essential, devalued, and underpaid migrant workers truly are.
He claims that he, “doesn’t mind if there’s a great big door in the wall”, and yet his plan is designed to make it as difficult as possible to gain an American citizenship.
The truth is, Donald trump hates Mexicans. He hates them with every fiber in his being
Donald Trump hates Mexicans to the point where he has sworn to use the power associated with being President of the United States to fulfill his own fucked up prejudice against the Mexican people.
And that makes me incredibly angry.
So… ya know what?
Fuck you Donald Trump. Fuck your plans for office, and fuck your incredibly fucked up beliefs. You don’t deserve the most powerful position in the world. You would find a way to abuse that much power and somehow turn it into a joke. America does not need a child who thrives on insults and never considers himself wrong as its’ president. America does not need a racist fuck making decisions that will affect millions of Americans, and we do not need someone who’s ego and arrogance will overpower his ability to be a formal representative of the United States of America.
Donald Trump, you are not going to make this country great again. You are going to turn this country into a mockery in front of the entire world.
“I don’t want to get jury duty!” Being registered to vote has nothing to do with jury duty. Anyone who pays taxes can get jury duty.
“I don’t want to vote for the lesser of two evils!” Stated wonderfully here: not voting for the lesser of two evils is like giving half a vote for the greater of two evils. Sometimes, you get to vote on the greater of two goods.
“I don’t know how to vote, or who to vote for!” With the internet, learning about local issues is now extremely easy, and no longer time-consuming. Also using the internet, you can learn how to vote, when to register. If you don’t know if you’re registered, look it uphere.
“I don’t really care.” Perfectly acceptable. If you don’t care, don’t vote.
“Elections are controlled by the rich!” Corperations get fewer votes than you, and millionaires get the same amount. Millionaires can change the vote, however, because most of them actually vote.
“I physically can’t get to the polls.” Absentee voting is annoying, but it exists.
“Politics is eating my soul.” Politics now seem to be about scaring people and raising hell and anxiety in the population. The gridlock is annoying. People care more about personal attacks than actual issues. The only way to change this is to vote away from partisanship.
“It’s not even a democracy.” Yes it is. Every American citizen can vote unless special circumstances forbid it. It could be more representative, but you know how to change that? You vote.
“My vote doesn’t matter.” IF EVERY YOUNG PERSON WHO USES THIS EXCUSE VOTES ONE TUESDAY EVERY TWO YEARS THEY WOULD LITERALLY BE THE DECIDING VOTE IN THOUSANDS OF ELECTIONS.
People born after 1980 make up 30% of people who can vote. Only 21% of them vote.
If you’re not voting, no one is hearing your voice.
the narrative that centers veterans as the primary subjects of PTSD is a colonialist/imperialist narrative that values masculine warriors in service of empire. sexual and domestic violence, linked to patriarchy, is irrelevant.
It also ties into the runaway train that is military worship in the United States. See also: your Facebook feed, no doubt full of unverified claims that illegal immigrants, ‘welfare queens’, and junkies get priority for housing and benefits over wounded veterans.
Y’all still wanna vote for this old white feminist thot
When Hilary dies
And this people of the internet, is what politicians call, a “sound bite”
“…And our problem is not all kooks and Klansman. It’s also in the cruel joke that goes unchallenged. It’s in the off-hand comments about not wanting “those people” in the neighborhood.
Let’s be honest: For a lot of well-meaning, open-minded white people, the sight of a young Black man in a hoodie still evokes a twinge of fear. And news reports about poverty and crime and discrimination evoke sympathy, even empathy, but too rarely do they spur us to action or prompt us to question our own assumptions and privilege.”
if you want to be political, stop being lazy
Luuuuv seeing activists getting schooled.
I love it when tumblr activists gall for rightwing bullshit propaganda
I’m not going to say that anybody should be obliged to settle for “good enough” when it comes to their elected representatives – quite the opposite, in fact – but it seems to me that before one criticises a representative for their failure to do a thing, one ought to be aware of whether the office in question actually has the authority to do the thing.
Like how so many people seem to legitimately believe that Obama controls the price of a gallon of gas.
Do they think there’s some magical dial on his desk that raises or lowers the price of gas to suit his political agenda???
Hello, while we have kept you updated with posts about the U.S. Occupation of Haiti, I simply wanted to take a small break from that to share a few titles with you on another topic of great interest, that is, the ‘diplomatic’ relations between Haiti and United States during and after the Haitian Revolution. I put diplomatic in quotation marks since, from the time of Jefferson to the Civil War, Haiti and the United States did not enjoy formal diplomatic relations (given that Haiti’s independence as a state was not recognised).
Although there seems to be this view that Haiti automatically existed in antagonism with the United States (which is not so completely false), if we accept this too wholesomely, I think we risk missing out on the complexity posed by Saint-Domingue/Haiti to a country like the United States. Literature on American-Haitian relations suggests that different American administrations dealt with Saint-Domingue/Haiti well, differently. Indeed, it is very interesting to see how the U.S. had to reconcile the principles of its own revolution with the advent of a free black state like Haiti.
At any rate, I hope these will be useful and feel free to add any suggestions. Happy reading!
we’ve got Hillary Clinton, who’s like the classic democratic candidate but her only advantage over republicans is that she has sound morals and that’s about it
we’ve got Bernie Sanders, an old white straight guy that fights for the young, colored, gay, and female, who’s an open socialist and calls out republican bullshit constantly
we’ve got like fifteen interchangeable republican candidates who are all equal parts unremarkable and pieces of shit
we’ve got Donald Trump, an openly racist/sexist/homophobic man who basically just wants to strip everyone of their rights
