its true
Native Americans weren’t allowed US citizenship until 1924.
Let that sink in. We lived here first…for thousands of years. And less than a hundred years ago we were finally given citizenship.
We also fought in WWI despite not being US citizens.
In Arizona, natives weren’t granted the right to vote until 1948. Think how that type of neglect ties into resource colonization as infrastructure was developed within years prior.
In addition: the indigenous peoples of Canada were not recognized as Human Beings until the year 1960.
Now let that shit sink in.In the US it wasn’t until 1968 that the Indian Civil Rights Act was passed and allowed for the right to freedom of speech / assembly / press, a jury trial, the right to an attorney etc. It’s so fucking frustrating.
and it wasn’t until 1978 that we were legally allowed to practice our own religions. in a nation founded on religious freedoms, it was illegal to practice our own religions. in our own country. how fucked up is that?
Aaaand Native Americans weren’t entitled to their own languages (had no legal rights to teach them in their schools, use them in business) until the Native American Language Act of 1990.
I teach this to my students, because NONE of it is in a single textbook. This is and act of indoctrination
Boosting because I didn’t know any of this.
Eighteen hours later.
Hate gets its running shoes on.
Should we be surprised
This is terrifying
But it wasn’t about race, they say.

I can’t believe how many bitchasses are crying in the notes on this post just because this girl who’s undocumented dared to excel
YAAAAS QUEEN
Criminal behavior isn’t exclusive to the uneducated. I mean how many rapists have been valedictorian?
That’s hyperbole AND a false comparison and you fucking know it.
More than likely she was brought to America as a baby and had no more choice about where she was born or grew up than any other child.
What about my comparison is false? Is she a criminal continuously engaging in criminal behaviour? Does her life status or grade level make her illegal actions legal?
What the hell is a false comparison. You can compare anything you want even if they have absolutely nothing in common it’s still a comparison. You can argue it’s not a good comparison but to call a comparison false is stupid. Whenever someone says false comparison you know they are about to bring up some special pleading argument like oh they had no choice so it’s not a crime for some reason.
And it’s not even a comparison of rapist to illegal alien I’m tired of people not understanding how analogies work. The point isn’t that rapists and illegals are the same thing or that those crimes are equitable so it’s not hyperbole either. It’s saying you wouldn’t defend one crime with the fact that the person was educated so why is that a valid defense for another crime. It isn’t.
If the point is that you can contribute and be a valued member of society then prove it and immigrate legally. And if you don’t want to be a citizen because you a proud citizen of your own country then fuck off and stay there. I hope she gets deported.
Glad she’s got full tuition while Vets have to beg for the fucking GI Bill we earned.
Honestly?
I love reading all these bitter ass pieces of shit getting their tighty whities in a bunch over this.
Any by the way, Bill, you absolute bag of used maxi pads, she EARNED that full ride scholarship with that 4.5 GPA.
Why don’t you just come out and say that you hate Mexican people instead.
Also that knee-jerk “BUT THE VETS” argument makes me want to punch a wall. These people never give a shit about how veterans are treated, never make so much as a peep about the way the US discards soldiers it rendered “unusable” until some demographic they hate makes socio-economic progress.
If y’all really gave a single fuck about vets maybe you’d volunteer to actually improve their lives, instead of just using them as props in your arguments against upward mobility. (and by the way, here are some places where you can do just that, or at least donate money to help volunteers do the work: X X X X X )
Gentrifiers focus on aesthetics, not people. Because people, to them, are aesthetics.
Proponents of gentrification will vouch for its benevolence by noting it “cleaned up the neighbourhood”. This is often code for a literal white-washing. The problems that existed in the neighbourhood – poverty, lack of opportunity, struggling populations denied city services – did not go away. They were simply priced out to a new location.
That new location is often an impoverished suburb, which lacks the glamour to make it the object of future renewal efforts. There is no history to attract preservationists because there is nothing in poor suburbs viewed as worth preserving, including the futures of the people forced to live in them. This is blight without beauty, ruin without romance: payday loan stores, dollar stores, unassuming homes and unpaid bills. In the suburbs, poverty looks banal and is overlooked.
In cities, gentrifiers have the political clout – and accompanying racial privilege – to reallocate resources and repair infrastructure. The neighbourhood is “cleaned up” through the removal of its residents. Gentrifiers can then bask in “urban life” – the storied history, the selective nostalgia, the carefully sprinkled grit – while avoiding responsibility to those they displaced.

teenagers in Ancient Rome: You are all hateful bigots, this is ***476*** and the barbarians just want to have the benefits of our empire!
This is an insult to Rome. They were far more accepting of foreigners and foreign customs than us today. They would add foreign Gods to their pantheon, and adopted nearly every culture and custom they came across.
Most of the foreigners they were surrounded by in a religious sense were also pluralistic and accepting of synthesis. The Romans completely rejected, mass-murdered and destroyed the temple of the one group that were not like this because they constantly tried to rebel, subvert and mass-murder Romans, partially due to their unbending religious beliefs. Ooh sounds familiar!
Outside of religion the Romans certainly DID NOT ‘adopt nearly every culture or custom’… tell that to the Celts, Iberian peoples, Carthaginians, Numidians and others whose cultures they destroyed and amalgamated into a Romanised mould.
What the fuck are you on about? In no way, shape or form was Rome insular. Yes, the Empire whose sword was Iberian, whose arches were Etruscan, whose armies were modeled after the Greeks, then Celts, then Parthians, the Empire that gave citizenship to everyone, regardless of origin, yeah, they were really insular and racist.
“Mass murder” they wiped out fortresses and armies that resisted, but otherwise the Romans were tolerant of the Jews and would often patronize them and their ceremonies, especially when it would piss of the Greeks. Yup, even the Christians were so persecuted that you could find Christians in the imperial court of Diocletian.
They didn’t destroy cultures you fuckwit. Coloniae and municipia mostly kept to themselves in a sea of “barbarism”. The locals were not forced to adopt Roman language or customs. (Tacitus, Agricola, also see
L.A. Curchin, Roman Spain: Conquest and
Assimilation.) In time they would voluntarily adopt things that they liked, but there was no official practice of forcing anything upon conquered peoples, besides taxes. The post wasn’t alluding to war practices, it was trying to make a half baked implication on Roman immigration policy. Rome in no way was anti-immigration. If they were, they would have been stamped out by more numerous enemies like the Etruscans or Samnites. Rome was always marked by a willingness to incorporate people and nations into their empire. Hell, they were willing to provoke a war with Carthage in order to adopt Saguntum into their empire, weren’t they?
You’re half right, the Romans didn’t adopt everything they came across – they didn’t have any of the racial superiority of the Greeks. In Athens, you couldn’t be a citizen unless you were of “Athenian blood,” you could work and live in Athens, but you couldn’t own property, vote, or marry an Athenian woman. The Athenians were so worried about foreign blood they locked their women up on the second floor of their houses to prevent interbreeding. Meanwhile the Roman Edict of Caracalla declared that all free men in the Empire were full Roman citizens, regardless of origin. By the 2nd Century CE, around 50-60% of Senators were non-Italian. (M. Hammond, “Composition of the Senate, A.D. 68-235”)
In fact, the only culture or ethnic group the Romans were openly hostile to were the Greeks. Graeculus was a pejorative that the Romans used to describe anything corrupt and excessive. The Romans considered their own origin as that of rusticitas, i.e. they thought of themselves as barbarian. (N.K. Petrochilos, Roman Attitudes to the Greeks.)
Romanization was a two-way street, the Romans had no working practices that enforced anything near resembling Roman ethnic or cultural superiority.
I’m really at a loss as to how you can be so fucking daft. Multiculturalism was the the defining aspect of Roman conquest, and the primary reason they’re the longest lasting empire in Europe. It only took 150 administrators to look after 60 million citizens in the 2nd Century (K. Hopkins, “Taxes and Trade in the Roman Empire”). Subjects of the Empire were happy to be part of the Empire because they got citizenship without being forced to give up who they were.
So honestly, go fuck yourself. The Romans will not be used as an excuse for modern racism and insularism.
Hey I haven’t read all of this but in case you are interested there is a paper issued by Waseda University of Japan, “Multiculturalism and the Roman Empire,” penned by Kim Kyung-hyun. It does not only talk about multiculturalism itself but also draws a parallel with diversity in America.
In case anybody was wondering, Donald Trump just released his first official plan for his presidency on Sunday, 8/15, and HOLY SHIT is it scary
To sum up this racist fuckery he calls a plan for office:
•He intends to have the Mexican Government pay for a wall between the US and Mexico
•He has openly said that children should not be spared amnesty. He plans on shipping entire families back to Mexico
•He demands “mandatory incarceration and deportation” of any undocumented immigrants who are caught on US soil
•He plans on tripling immigration officers at the boarder
•He wants to make it much, much harder for Mexicans to gain American citizenship, even for those who were already living in the US
•He says that, “only the good ones” should be allowed to stay in the US or gain citizenship. (He has not defined the use of the word “good” by the way)
•I know I already said this but HE LITERALLY PLANS ON HAVING THE MEXICAN GOVERNMENT BUILD THE UNITED STAES A FREE WALL???
•He wants to change the 14th amendment to the constitution so that all children born to illegal immigrants will be classified as illegal as soon as they are born. This is the same guy who, up until recently, didn’t even have a tab on his website for his plans for office.
This is the same guy who said on national TV that Megyn Kelly was “bleeding out of her wherever” while questioning him at the most recent debate.
This is the same guy that gave out a US senators personal phone number on national TV
This is the same guy who called a veteran, US senator, and national war hero a, “loser” because he, “doesn’t like people who got captured”.
And this is the same exact guy who announced his campaign for President of The United States Of America by calling all Mexicans drug users and rapists.
Donald Trump claims that he has a lot of respect for Mexico and their people, but he says this only so he can fall back on it when confronted about his prejudice.
He claims he has had thousands of migrant workers working for his company, and that he understands and sympathizes with them because of this. And yet he fails to recognize how essential, devalued, and underpaid migrant workers truly are.
He claims that he, “doesn’t mind if there’s a great big door in the wall”, and yet his plan is designed to make it as difficult as possible to gain an American citizenship.
The truth is, Donald trump hates Mexicans. He hates them with every fiber in his being
Donald Trump hates Mexicans to the point where he has sworn to use the power associated with being President of the United States to fulfill his own fucked up prejudice against the Mexican people.
And that makes me incredibly angry.
So… ya know what?
Fuck you Donald Trump. Fuck your plans for office, and fuck your incredibly fucked up beliefs. You don’t deserve the most powerful position in the world. You would find a way to abuse that much power and somehow turn it into a joke. America does not need a child who thrives on insults and never considers himself wrong as its’ president. America does not need a racist fuck making decisions that will affect millions of Americans, and we do not need someone who’s ego and arrogance will overpower his ability to be a formal representative of the United States of America.
Donald Trump, you are not going to make this country great again. You are going to turn this country into a mockery in front of the entire world.
