The Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Jerusalem, built from 1892-1898 on the orders of Emperor Wilhelm II. The land on which it was built was given to his grandfather, Prussian King Wilhelm I, by the Ottoman Empire. This was the second protestant church built in Jerusalem and was dedicated by Wilhelm II himself on October 31 (Reformation Day), 1898. It is still run by German provosts.
