i s2g i am so tired of hearing people say that Hillary Clinton seems ‘mean’. Like no she’s not mean she’s just not a doormat. She’s not campaigning to be a nanny or wedding planner she’s wanting to be a head of state and guess what you can’t be a pushover to do that. Stop calling women who stand their ground mean. JFC

Bernie Sanders backers beware: It’s up to you to keep movement alive if Hillary Clinton takes primary

salon:

Ryan Cooper of The Week posted an interesting piece Tuesday morning about the dilemma facing Bernie Sanders’ supporters. It’s becoming increasingly obvious that Hillary Clinton will be the Democratic nominee, and there are several reasons why that’s so. Cooper writes:

“It’s been obvious from the start of the 2016 presidential race that just about the entire Democratic Party establishment is in the tank for Hillary Clinton. The head of the Democratic National Committee is one of her 2008 campaign co-chairs, and the DNC has refused to allow more than six debates, deliberately scheduled them at comically bad times to prevent Clinton challengers from getting much attention, and most recently cut off Bernie Sanders’ campaign from its own data.”

Cooper continues: “The DNC’s obvious bias is bad. It’s also utterly predictable. Clinton has deep ties to party elites thanks to her husband being a former president and her serving as secretary of state for the current president. It’s something less than shocking that the party’s elites are putting their thumbs on the scales against an avowed socialist primary competitor.”

Clinton is a competent candidate, and she could easily win the Democratic nomination without the overwhelming support of the establishment and the corporate sector, but that’s not really the point. What’s frustrating, particularly for Sanders supporters, is that the deck is so clearly stacked in her favor. Worse still, if Clinton does indeed win, the preferences of Sanders voters (roughly 10 to 15 percent of the overall population, as Cooper notes) will find little representation in government.

Energized by campaign, the real question for Bernie Sanders supporters is what to do if Hillary Clinton wins

It looks like the creators of The Simpsons can see the future

I want what they’re smoking fr

Same clothes, down to the lapel pin

It’s funny that a person is holding a paid sign in the Simpsons one because it was later found out that the ppl in the crowd were in fact paid actors.

I think they have a psychic on their writing staff

Y’all do realize that Hitler had similar views about Jewish people that Trump has about Latinxs. Back then nobody thought Hitler would win and somehow he did and then fast forward to all the shit that went down. Y’all need to stop playing and start paying attention to Trump- he’s not kidding.

Donald Trump’s campaign is like the ultimate in white male privilege

if a Black man reacted to insults and detractors the way Donald Trump does, he’d be called “angry”, “irrational”, and “uncivilized”

if a woman reacted that way she’d be called “catty”, bitch”, and “emotional”

but when a white guy does it people say he’s “honest”, “direct”, and has “guts”

no other demographic can get away with publicly acting like a two year old who just woke up from a nap more than white dudes

there’s wide public acceptance and even admiration for this kind of behavior when the right kind of person does it

In case anybody was wondering, Donald Trump just released his first official plan for his presidency on Sunday, 8/15, and HOLY SHIT is it scary

To sum up this racist fuckery he calls a plan for office:

•He intends to have the Mexican Government pay for a wall between the US and Mexico
•He has openly said that children should not be spared amnesty. He plans on shipping entire families back to Mexico
•He demands “mandatory incarceration and deportation” of any undocumented immigrants who are caught on US soil
•He plans on tripling immigration officers at the boarder
•He wants to make it much, much harder for Mexicans to gain American citizenship, even for those who were already living in the US
•He says that, “only the good ones” should be allowed to stay in the US or gain citizenship. (He has not defined the use of the word “good” by the way)
•I know I already said this but HE LITERALLY PLANS ON HAVING THE MEXICAN GOVERNMENT BUILD THE UNITED STAES A FREE WALL???
•He wants to change the 14th amendment to the constitution so that all children born to illegal immigrants will be classified as illegal as soon as they are born.

This is the same guy who, up until recently, didn’t even have a tab on his website for his plans for office.

This is the same guy who said on national TV that Megyn Kelly was “bleeding out of her wherever” while questioning him at the most recent debate.

This is the same guy that gave out a US senators personal phone number on national TV

This is the same guy who called a veteran, US senator, and national war hero a, “loser” because he, “doesn’t like people who got captured”.

And this is the same exact guy who announced his campaign for President of The United States Of America by calling all Mexicans drug users and rapists.

Donald Trump claims that he has a lot of respect for Mexico and their people, but he says this only so he can fall back on it when confronted about his prejudice.

He claims he has had thousands of migrant workers working for his company, and that he understands and sympathizes with them because of this. And yet he fails to recognize how essential, devalued, and underpaid migrant workers truly are.

He claims that he, “doesn’t mind if there’s a great big door in the wall”, and yet his plan is designed to make it as difficult as possible to gain an American citizenship.

The truth is, Donald trump hates Mexicans. He hates them with every fiber in his being

Donald Trump hates Mexicans to the point where he has sworn to use the power associated with being President of the United States to fulfill his own fucked up prejudice against the Mexican people.

And that makes me incredibly angry.

So… ya know what?

Fuck you Donald Trump. Fuck your plans for office, and fuck your incredibly fucked up beliefs. You don’t deserve the most powerful position in the world. You would find a way to abuse that much power and somehow turn it into a joke. America does not need a child who thrives on insults and never considers himself wrong as its’ president. America does not need a racist fuck making decisions that will affect millions of Americans, and we do not need someone who’s ego and arrogance will overpower his ability to be a formal representative of the United States of America.

Donald Trump, you are not going to make this country great again. You are going to turn this country into a mockery in front of the entire world.

Ten Terrible Reason to not Vote (and two good ones)

andthisisausername:

For Americans who are eligible to vote:

  1. “I don’t want to get jury duty!”   Being registered to vote has nothing to do with jury duty.  Anyone who pays taxes can get jury duty.
  2. “I don’t want to vote for the lesser of two evils!”   Stated wonderfully here: not voting for the lesser of two evils is like giving half a vote for the greater of two evils.  Sometimes, you get to vote on the greater of two goods.
  3. “I don’t know how to vote, or who to vote for!”  With the internet, learning about local issues is now extremely easy, and no longer time-consuming.  Also using the internet, you can learn how to vote, when to register.  If you don’t know if you’re registered, look it up here.
  4. “I don’t really care.”  Perfectly acceptable.  If you don’t care, don’t vote.
  5. “Elections are controlled by the rich!”  Corperations get fewer votes than you, and millionaires get the same amount.  Millionaires can change the vote, however, because most of them actually vote.
  6. “I physically can’t get to the polls.”  Absentee voting is annoying, but it exists.
  7. “Politics is eating my soul.”  Politics now seem to be about scaring people and raising hell and anxiety in the population.  The gridlock is annoying.  People care more about personal attacks than actual issues.  The only way to change this is to vote away from partisanship.
  8. “It’s not even a democracy.”  Yes it is.  Every American citizen can vote unless special circumstances forbid it.  It could be more representative, but you know how to change that?  You vote.
  9. “My vote doesn’t matter.”  IF EVERY YOUNG PERSON WHO USES THIS EXCUSE VOTES ONE TUESDAY EVERY TWO YEARS THEY WOULD LITERALLY BE THE DECIDING VOTE IN THOUSANDS OF ELECTIONS.

People born after 1980 make up 30% of people who can vote.  Only 21% of them vote.

If you’re not voting, no one is hearing your voice.
