it always grosses me out when people make nasty/rude/sexist/racist/etc comments and then end it in ‘lol’ like that suddenly makes it okay

it’s even worse when they then use that ‘lol’ shield to try and frame their comment as ‘just a joke’ when someone calls them out instead of being complicit in their negativity

it’s not just a joke. even if you meant it as a joke, it’s perpetuating the thing it’s supposedly poking fun at by being indistinguishable as a joke to some people. and if it wasn’t originally meant as a joke, you’re not just a rude/sexist/racist/whatever person, you’re also a coward/can’t admit being wrong. nobody wins.
